More than fifty years ago, J. Anthony “Tony” Dill started his own law firm with the goal of helping families plan their legacy with his estate planning and probate law practice. While practicing law full time, Tony spent 10 years of his practice as a Missouri State Representative serving the people in Affton and the surrounding neighborhoods in South St. Louis County.
After a number of years as a solo practitioner, Tony was joined by other attorneys to help him support his growing law practice. In 1979, Michael Bamvakais started his legal practice as part of Tony’s law firm, eventually joining Tony as one of his law partners.
Over time other attorneys have worked with Tony and Mike to provide legal representation and guidance to clients. Most recently, after thirty years of practice their longtime partner, John F. Newsham, retired from the practice of law to continue his service to the community as an Associate Circuit Judge in St. Louis County, Missouri.
Although Tony has retired from the active practice of law, he is still an important part of the legacy of the firm. Our focus remains providing legal services to individuals, families, including the next generation of many of Tony’s former clients. We also continue to serve family businesses, some of which were incorporated with the assistance of Mr. Dill.
Most recently following a merger with Joe O’Keefe, we have expanded our footprint to provide the same services to clients in Southern Illinois from our Belleville office.
With our St. Louis office based in South St. Louis County, about a mile from where Tony first hung out his shingle to start his law practice, Dill, Bamvakais & O’Keefe, P.C. remains proud and inspired by what Tony Dill started, and driven to continue to help our clients plan for the future.
In May of 2022, Founder Tony Dill, was featured in a St. Louis Post-Dispatch article highlighting his community work. You can read the article here.
